How does it work
When you click on Create a VM a lot of things come together that you have configured but it comes down to this:
A window has to be created with the correct options so you can create a working VM. Here we go:
- If you have multiple nodes/clusters, Cloudmox must know where the VM should be created?
We ask the user where it should be created, and in a future release, a node can be selected automatically by Cloudmox. - After the cluster/node is selected, Cloudmox checks if the requested resources fits in the resources that are assigned to that tenant/group/user.
- A VM id is requested from Proxmox.
- Then we fetch the settings from the Tenant Resource Profile.. If there are no overrides, we use the Default Resource Profile (see Resource Profiles)
- The VPS wizard is created with the available storages, networks and ISOs for that particalar node.
- The VM is created in Proxmox
- A tags is set. A general tag (CMX) so you can find Cloudmox managed VMs easily
- A note is set at that VM that says something like, do not change follwed by a Tanant ID
Once a VM is created, it does not use the Default Resource Profile anymore. So you are free to change the VM.
